Amy Snyder (formerly Amy Sande-Friedman) advises new and seasoned collectors on the acquisition and sale of Contemporary art. Relying on knowledge and relationships developed during over fifteen years in the New York art world, she finds desirable works of art for her clients’ homes and offices. Amy also builds and maintains corporate collections and sources artwork for lobbies, restaurants, and retail spaces. Although based in New York, Amy has clients across the United States.
Amy works with her clients to understand their aesthetic, budget, viewpoint, and interests to assure that the work they collect best represents their tastes and goals. Amy bridges the gap between collectors and the art world, creating a seamless, educational, and enjoyable experience. Her passion for looking at art brings her not only to prestigious galleries, auction previews, and art fairs, but also the studios of emerging talent. Amy's comprehensive knowledge of the art market allows her to present an extensive range of work for each project. She offers unbiased guidance on every acquisition and expert advice on framing, installation, shipping, and insurance.
A Manhattan native, Amy is a graduate of Amherst College and received her Ph.D. from the Bard Graduate Center. She wrote her dissertation on the Contemporary sculptor Kenneth Snelson.
Soon after graduating from Amherst in 2000, Amy started her career in Sotheby’s catalogue production department. She was subsequently the Director of a leading art advisory firm and several Contemporary galleries. She has also taught the history of design at the undergraduate and graduate level and has written articles for numerous publications.
Amy lives in Gramercy with her husband, John, and a small fluffy dog named Hogarth.
