I was lucky enough to be in Houston this past weekend for the Super Bowl!! And there is no way I would come to Houston without visiting the Rothko Chapel. Built by the de Menil family in 1971, the building was designed by modernist master Philip Johnson and the walls are filled with fourteen transcendent Mark Rothko paintings. For me, there is nothing more meditative and transporting than sitting in front of a Rothko in a quiet space. And this room – filled with over 35 years of peaceful energy – is sublime. If you ever find yourself in Houston, add this to your list!
